Sia Ahmad brings over two decades of diverse music/arts industry experience and knowledge to her dual roles as Director of MusicACT and Manager for Music In Exile’s Artist Accelerator Program.
She is a professional artist who has released a range of award-winning original music worldwide and has performed at renowned venues and festivals including the City Recital Hall, Dark Mofo, SXSW Austin, Sydney Opera House and WOMADelaide.
Working in arts administration since 2011, Sia also worked at several venues in the ACT, most recently at Ainslie+Gorman Arts Centres. Additionally, Sia curated and managed the hellosQuare label between 2004-2019.

Sia Ahmad offers a rich and extensive background in Australian music, creating idiosyncratic sounds over the last two decades here and overseas. Using guitar, voice and electronics, she works both as singer/composer and improviser when performing solo work as Shoeb Ahmad, or in collaboration with artists such as Gwenno, Liars and Bree van Reyk.
Once of acclaimed electronic jazz outfit Tangents, and an APRA AMCOS Art Music Award winner, many of these projects also feature her talent as a producer and engineer, with a unique sensibility to sonic space coming to the fore.
